According to export data from the US Department of Commerce, monthly steel exports in June this year increased by 6.8 percent from May and were up 14.9 percent year on year to 644,322 mt. In terms of value, US steel exports in June totaled $1.26 billion, compared to $1.16 billion in May and $1.08 billion in June 2025.
Steel exports to Mexico in June were up 8.8 percent compared to May and were up 27.8 percent year on year to 420,456 mt, while exports to Canada were up 6.5 percent month on month and down 1.9 percent compared to June 2025 to 195,126 mt.
Other top destinations for US steel exports in June included China with 2,800 mt, the Bahamas with 2,042 mt, and India with 1,669 mt.
Major steel products exported in June include HDG at 110,462 mt, hot rolled sheets at 61,372 mt, cut-length steel plates at 80,974 mt, cold rolled sheets at 76,098 mt, and plates in coil at 50,577 mt.
