South Korea's Fair Trade Commission has announced that it has decided to start an antidumping (AD) duty investigation on imports of stainless steel bar from Italy and Taiwan.

According to the commission’s statement, the applicants for the investigation are local producers Dongil Steel Co. and SeAH Special Steel Corp., who alleged that the domestic industry is being damaged by the cheap stainless steel bar imports from the two countries.

South Korea currently imposes antidumping duties ranging between 3.56 percent and 15.39 percent on imports of the same products from India, Japan and Spain.

The products in question currently fall under Customs Tariff Statistics Position Number 7222.11.0000, 7222.19.0000, 7222.20.0000 and 7222.30.0000.
