The World Trade Organization (WTO) has announced that Japan has requested consultations with the government of South Korea with respect to South Korea's determination to continue the imposition of antidumping (AD) duties on stainless steel bar from Japan as a conclusion in the third sunset review.

In its request Japan has stated that these measures at issue appear to be inconsistent with South Korea's obligations under WTO's Antidumping Agreement because South Korea is levying the antidumping duties without establishing that the effect of the dumping is such as to cause or threaten material injury to an established domestic industry.

According to WTO, Japan looks forward to receiving South Korea's reply to the present request in due course.

South Korea currently imposes a 15.39 percent tariff on imports stainless steel bars from Japan.
