Peruvian iron ore producer Shougang Hierro Peru is still prevented from transporting and storing iron ore at its Marcona site, according to a media report by El Comercio.

SteelOrbis reported earlier this week local environmental regulator, OEFA, ordered the company to immediately suspend the transportation and storage of the commodity following a recent audit at the company’s Marcona mine. OEFA said there were leaks of particulate matter, also known as particle pollution, at the mine.

The El Comercio media report said the halt will continue until the company presents a remediation plan. OEFA gave Shougang on January 12 five days to present a plan for the affected area.
