Russia’s stainless steel imports down 37.5 percent in Feb from Jan

In February this year, Russia’s stainless steel imports totaled 21,718 mt, down by 37.5 percent compared to the previous month, according to Russia-based SpetsStal Association.

In the given month, in terms of volume, Russia’s imports of stainless cold rolled steel, stainless hot rolled steel, stainless welded pipes, stainless long steel, stainless seamless pipes and stainless wire fell by 28.7 percent, 48.1 percent, 25.0 percent, 49.3 percent, 55.4 percent and 53.8 percent, respectively, month on month.

In February, China, which accounted for 76.2 percent of the total supply, was the main supplier of stainless products to Russia. China was followed by Indonesia with 8.6 percent, India with 5.6 percent, Turkey with 2.2 percent, Slovenia with 1.7 percent and Vietnam with 1.6 percent.
