Russian production in January-May

According to the data released by the Federal State Statistics Service of Russian Federation, the country's production of crude steel rose 7 percent year on year to 27.2 million tons in January-May of 2006. During the given period, the output of finished steel products rose 5.1 percent to 23.8 million tons. In particular, during the period under the consideration, increase in the productions of both crude steel and finished steel products was showed by Severstal, MMK, NLMK and ZapSib. Mechel, on the other hand, reported year on year decrease in the productions of both crude steel and finished steel products in the first five months of 2006.
