Rio Tinto reports increase in its iron ore production
Anglo-Australian mining company Rio Tinto has announced that production of raw materials for steelmaking in the fourth quarter has increased by 3% following the capacity expansion. In the fourth quarter ended on December 31, 2004, the company produced 28.9 million tons of iron ore. The company produced 28 million tons of iron ore in the three month period ended on December 31, 2003. Moreover, in the same period, coking coal production of the company increased by 46% to 1.39 million tons against the figure recorded in the fourth quarter of 2003. Demand for steelmaking raw materials has increased considerably as a result of huge steel consumption in China.Rio Tinto reports increase in its iron ore production
