Australia-based miner Rio Tinto has announced that it has suspended its operations at its Simandou iron ore project in Guinea scheduled for commissioning in late 2025, following a fatal accident occurred at its SimFer port.
The company stated that it is collaborating with its partners and local authorities to carry out an in-depth investigation and that it will continue taking all necessary measures to ensure the highest standards of health and safety at its sites.
