Hebei Province-based Qinhuangdao Shougang Plate Co., an affiliate of major Chinese steelmaker Shougang Group, has stated that it has successfully developed production of carbon steel plate of 5 mm thickness.
The prices of 5 mm steel plate are around RMB 100/mt ($15.8/mt) higher than prices of 6 mm plate. The company said that its development of 5 mm plate production is an important step in the adjustment of its product structure and that it will start producing ultra-thin plate in large quantities in 2012.
