POSCO’s refractory subsidiary to set up JV with Japan’s Mitsubishi

The European Commission has announced that it has granted clearance under EU Merger Regulation for the South Korean joint venture by POSCO Chemtech Company Ltd. (POSCO Chemtech), a subsidiary of South Korean steelmaker POSCO and Japanese companies Mitsubishi Corporation (MC) and Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation (MCC).
 
The joint venture company will produce and supply pitch coke, needle coke and other by-products to customers in South Korea, China, Japan, India, Taiwan and Russia.
 
POSCO Chemtech is active in engineering, manufacturing and maintenance of industrial furnaces and refractories.
