Port of Mobile, Alabama to expand steel storage with $7 million investment

According to local media reports, the Alabama State Port Authority announced Wednesday it will invest $7 million in a project that will expand the port's steel storage capacity. The expansion project, which will be located on Pier C North in the Port of Mobile, will result in 15-20 percent more outside storage for steel products.

The renovation is a result the port's growing steel presence, which can be attributed to the construction of a steel mill by German steelmaker ThyssenKrupp AG in Alabama.
