Poland’s National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management has announced that it will provide a loan of PLN 100 million ($22.58 million) to JSW KOKS S.A., a coke mill belonging to Jastrzebska Spolka Weglowa SA, to complete the modernization project of the coke battery No. 4 at the Przyjaźń plant in Dąbrowa Górnicza.

The purpose of the modernization of the coke battery No. 4 is to change the production process, which will significantly reduce the negative impact of the coking plant on the natural environment. The project will also allow for cheaper production of coking coal included in the group of goods of strategic importance for EU countries.

The modernization of the coke battery is scheduled to be completed in June 2024.
