Peruvian iron ore production rises in October

Peruvian iron ore production in October increased 66.7 percent, year-on-year, according to the country’s energy and mining ministry (Minem). Peruvian iron ore production in October was 460,887 mt, up from 276,267 mt in October 2017.

Iron ore production for the accumulated period of January to October this year reached 8.06 million mt, 14.4 percent up, year-on-year.

Shougang Hierro Peru is the nation’s key iron ore producer and accounted for 411,057 mt out of 460,887 mt produced in October this year. Minera Shouxin Peru SA, a joint venture between China’s Baiyin Nonferrous Group and Shougang Hierro Peru, produced 49,630 mt of iron ore out of the total 460,687 mt produced in October.
