Peruvian iron ore production increases in December and January

The Peruvian ministry of mines and energy, Minem, has released local iron ore output for both the December 2019 and the January 2020 period.

According to Minem, local iron ore production in December 2019 was 1.17 million mt, 30.9 percent up, year-on-year.

As for the full-year of 2019, Peruvian iron ore output grew 6.15 percent, year-on-year, to 10.1 million mt.

Minem said Peruvian iron ore production in January 2020 declined 39.1 percent, year-on-year, to 600,446 mt.

Most of Peru’s iron ore production comes from Shougang Hierro Peru.
