Peruvian iron ore export prices spike in April

Peruvian iron ore export prices in April surged 145.8 percent, year-on-year, to $64.90/mt FOB, according to data released by the nation’s central bank, BCRP.

Government data indicated local iron ore export prices in April improved 35.2 percent, month-on-month, from $48/mt FOB in March 2019.

Peruvian iron ore export volumes in April reached 1 million mt, slightly down from 1.1 million mt in the same month of the year prior. Peruvian iron ore export prices in April reached the year’s highest level thus far.
