Peruvian iron ore export prices decline in August

Peruvian iron ore export prices in August dropped both on a year-on-year and month-on-month basis, according to data released by the nation’s central bank, BCRP.

Government data said local iron ore export prices reached $32.1/mt FOB in August this year, 28.5 percent down, year-on-year, from $44.9/mt FOB in August 2017.

The country’s iron ore export prices in August also decreased from $35/mt FOB in July this year, an 8.3 percent month-on-month decline.

Peruvian iron ore export prices have been oscillating this year between $26.4/mt and $37.7/mt FOB.

Peruvian iron ore export volumes in August this year totaled 900,000 mt, slightly up from 800,000 mt in August 2017, but down from 1.1 million mt in July this year.
