OMK’s Vyksa posts records for pipe production and shipment

The Russian steel and pipe producer United Metallurgical Company (OMK) has announced that in the first quarter of this year its Novgorod-based pipe producer Vyksa Steel Works (Vyksa) shipped more than 500,000 mt of pipes, including 313,500 mt of large diameter (LD) pipes. This is the highest quarterly delivery level ever reached by the plant. 
 
In addition, Vyksa reached a record monthly output level in March this year, producing 185,989 mt of pipes, including 119,250 mt of LD pipes - up 41 percent compared to the same period last year.
 
In Q1 2010, Vyksa increased its pipe output by 41.8 percent year on year to 499,035 mt, with its LD pipe production amounting to 334,110 mt - up 40.4 percent compared to Q1 2009.
 
The main shipments were for such projects as the second stage of the Baltic Pipeline System, the second phase of the Eastern Siberia-Pacific Ocean pipeline, the Bovanenkovo-Ukhta pipeline, the Sakhalin-Khabarovsk-Vladivostok pipeline, and Baydaratskaya Bay.
