The Russian steel and pipe producer United Metallurgical Company (OMK) has announced that in January-February this year its Novgorod-based pipe producer Vyksa Steel Works (Vyksa) increased its pipe output by 45.5 percent year on year to 313,457 mt, with its large diameter pipe production amounting to 214,860 mt - up 40.1 percent compared to the same period last year.
In February 2010, Vyksa produced 169,481 mt of pipes - up 41.9 percent year on year, with its large diameter pipe production amounting to 117,332 mt - up 32.2 percent year on year.
"In February, we produced large diameter pipes for several major projects, including the second stage of the Baltic Pipeline System, the Sakhalin-Khabarovsk-Vladivostok pipeline, the Bovanenkovo-Ukhta pipeline and Baydaratskaya Bay. In our small and medium diameter pipe segment we are actively developing production from the rolled steel of our foundry and rolling facility," Vyksa executive director Vladimir Kochetkov stated.
