Ohio State Governor Ted Strickland and Lt. Governor Lee Fisher are expecting a visit from representatives of the Russian steelmaker Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works (MMK) this week to continue discussions regarding the possibility of the construction of a steel mill in this US state.

"Executives will be here the week of the 17th and that will be a continuation of discussions that were begun in July when the lieutenant governor visited Russia, but at this point we have no further details," confirmed Ms. Melissa Ament, a spokeswoman for the Ohio Department of Development.

As previously reported by SteelOrbis in July of the current year, MMK announced that it was considering the building of an automobile sheet producing mill in the USA state of Ohio. However, no details of the project were disclosed at that time.

According to unconfirmed reports, MMK may invest $1 billion in the construction of an automobile sheet plant in Ohio.
