OECD area GDP growth rises to 0.6 percent in Q1

The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) has announced that gross domestic product (GDP) growth in the OECD area in the first quarter this year rose to 0.6 percent, doubling the 0.3 percent recorded in the previous quarter, while the year-on-year GDP growth figure in the first quarter increased to 1.9 percent from 1.8 percent recorded in the previous quarter.

Among the major seven economies, GDP growth accelerated markedly in Germany (0.4%), Italy (0.3%), the UK (0.5%) and the United States (0.8%).

In the first quarter, in the euro area GDP growth increased to 0.4 percent, while GDP growth in the EU-28 region rose to 0.5 percent, both compared to the previous quarter.
