Japanese steelmaker Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Corporation (NSSMC) has announced that it is expanding the capacity and production system of Nippon Steel Bar & CH Wire (Suzhou) Co., Ltd. (NBC China), which is a production and sales company for cold heading wire in China, through building a new plant. The construction of the new plant started on Thursday, June 12, with production operations scheduled to start in June 2015.

According to NSSMC, the JPY 3.2 billion ($31.3 million) expansion of NBC China will adequately address demand for cold heading wire in China for which further growth is expected. The expansion is also performed in order to further enhance competitiveness in quality, cost, and delivery. A plant with facilities that can consistently conduct the processes of pickling, wire drawing, and heat treatment will be built, and production capacity will be increased to 42,000 mt per year.
