NBS: China’s crude steel output up 5.8 percent in January-August

In the January-August period of the current year, China produced 512.27 million mt of pig iron, up 0.8 percent year on year, while also producing 617.40 million mt of crude steel and 725.27 million mt of finished steel, rising by 5.8 percent and 7.1 percent year on year, respectively, as announced by China's National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) on September 14.

In August alone, China produced 66.66 million mt of pig iron, remaining unchanged year on year, while also producing 80.33 million mt of crude steel and 96.38 million mt of finished steel, up 2.7 percent and 6.4 percent year on year, respectively.
