In the January-May period of the current year, China produced 305.59 million mt of pig iron, down 0.6 percent year on year, while also producing 369.86 million mt of crude steel and 434.67 million mt of finished steel, rising by 5.4 percent and 6.2 percent year on year, respectively, as announced by China's National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) on June 14.
In May alone, China produced 66.89 million mt of pig iron, up 4.0 percent year on year, while also producing 81.13 million mt of crude steel and 97.07 million mt of finished steel, up 8.9 percent and 10.8 percent year on year, respectively.
