MMK increases capacity utilization level of new plate mill 5000

The Russian steel producer Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works (MMK) is increasing the capacity utilization level at its new plate rolling mill 5000, which is expected to produce about 70,000 mt of plates in January this year, the Ural-Press-Inform news agency reports.
 
MMK's  new plate mill 5000, with an annual capacity of 1.5 million mt, i.e. up to 125,000 mt per month, produces plates of 4,850 mm in width and of X100-X120 strength characteristics for the oil and gas, shipbuilding, bridge building and machine building industries.
 
Currently, at the mill MMK has mastered high and low temperature rolling processes, as well as the rolling process for sheets of various thicknesses and of up to 50 m in width, followed by cutting.
 
The new plate rolling mill 5000 was commissioned at MMK on July 24, 2009.
