Mexican auto production in July declined 2 percent, year-on-year, to 254,312 units, according to the nation’s automotive association, AMIA.
Domestic sales of cars in July rose 16.1 percent, year-on-year, to 111,714 units, while exports declined 2.3 percent, year-on-year, to 226,511 units.
In the accumulated period of January to July, Mexican auto production reached 1.9 million units, 6.7 percent up, year-on-year. Exports and domestic sales of cars the within the seven-month period rose 8.4 and 20.9 percent, year-on-year, to 1.6 million and 721,539 units, respectively.
AMIA said the prospects for the nation’s economy in 2015 are, overall, positive. The country’s GDP is expected to grow 2.5 percent, while the inflation should reach 2.82 percent by the end of the year.
