Mexican new vehicle sales up 32 percent in July

New vehicle sales in Mexico rose 32.6 percent, year-over-year, in July to 110,843 units, the 15th consecutive annual increase and the biggest increase in the last 25 years, according to a SteelOrbis analysis of data from national statistics agency Inegi.

July is the ninth time sales have exceeded the 100,000-unit-a-month level in the past 43 months. Sales for the seventh month have already exceeded the pre-pandemic level (106,104 units in 2019), but are below 2018 (115,047 units). Considering only the months of July, 2023 registered the largest increase in 25 years.

From January to July, 743,930 units were sold, 23.6 percent or 141,908 more vehicles compared to the same period last year.

INEGI information comes from the records of 23 companies affiliated with the Mexican Association of the Automotive Industry (AMIA) and two other non-associated companies.
