A Mexican court has lifted a freeze on the banking accounts of an Altos Hornos de Mexico (AHMSA) executive, according to a media report from El Financiero. A judge ordered Mexican authorities to remove in up to 24 hours the freeze on the accounts of Alonso Ancira, the president of AHMSA’s board, who was detained in Spain over corruption charges.

A previous court decision had already ordered Mexican authorities to remove the freeze on Ancira’s banking accounts, however, until late November, the court decision has not been followed.

The most recent court ruling demanding local banking and securities regulator, Comision Nacional Bancaria y de Valores (CNBV) to comply with the order.

Recently, the US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) said it was investigating Ancira over money laundering charges.
