Mexican auto production up in February

Mexican auto production in February rose 6.2 percent, year-on-year, to 328,252 units, the nation’s automotive industry association (AMIA) said this week.

Mexican auto exports in February increased 11.2 percent, year-on-year, to 275,980 units. On the other hand, domestic sales of vehicles in February dropped 7.2 percent, year-on-year, to 109,484 units.

As for the first two months of the year, Mexican auto output reached 632,107 units, 6.1 percent up, year-on-year.

Following the same uptrend, Mexican auto exports in the two-month period improved 8.5 percent, year-on-year, to 507,068 vehicles.

Domestic sales of autos in the same year-to-date period decreased 9.4 percent, year-on-year, to 218,629 units.
