Mexican auto production and exports increase in April

Mexican auto production and exports increased in April, on a year-on-year basis, while domestic sales fell this year for the first time, the country’s automotive industry association, AMIA, said this week.
 
Auto production rose 3.2 percent year-on-year in April to 278,173 units. Auto exports in April increased 16.1 percent year-on-year to 228,810 units. Domestic auto sales in April decreased 3.3 percent year-on-year to 114,477 units.
 
In the January-April period of this year, the country's auto production totaled 1.2 million units, 13.6 percent up, year-on-year. Exports in the given period increased 14.6 percent year-on-year to 978,972 units, while domestic sales in the same period improved 5.8 percent year-on-year to 492,725 units.
