The Ukrainian iron ore and steel producer Metinvest Group (Metinvest) has announced that France-based C4Gas S.A., the major purchasing portal of the EU's largest gas transportation and oil and gas companies, has finalized the procedure for certification of Metinvest's products and sales structure.

As a result, Metinvest's Geneva-located sales subsidiary Metinvest International and its Ukraine-based pipemaking subsidiary Khartsyzsk Pipe Works (KhPW) have been added to the list of authorized suppliers of French-based energy company Gaz de France Suez.

The qualification certificate presented by C4Gas S.A. enables Metinvest to participate in tenders for the supply of SAW pipes for European companies which purchase gas pipes only from C4Gas S.A.'s qualified producers. At present, Metinvest is the only company in the CIS which has this qualification.

"Taking into account the fact that С4Gas S.A. is a subsidiary and a purchasing portal of the EU's largest gas transport and oil and gas companies, this qualification...will significantly strengthen the position of Metinvest in the highly competitive European market," commented Dmitriy Nikolaenko, acting sales director at Metinvest's steel and rolled product division.
