Metalloinvest, a leading global iron ore and hot briquetted iron (HBI) producer based in Russia, has announced that it has agreed to create a collaborative scientific and engineering centre with Russia-based steel pipe producer ChelPipe Group. Technical specialists from Metalloinvest and ChelPipe Group will work together at the centre to develop new steel grades and improve the quality of steel products.

In a meeting held at Metalloinvest's subsidiary Ural Steel, the parties also discussed the fulfillment of agreements for Ural Steel to supply rolled steel products and continuous cast billets to the Chelyabinsk Pipe-Rolling Plant of ChelPipe. The parties also discussed the possibility of increasing Metalloinvest’s supply of strips and cast billets.

Deliveries of pipe billets produced by Ural Steel and OEMK, also a part of Metalloinvest, in the second half of current year are expected to be in line with the levels from the first half of the year, around 14,000 and 12,000 mt per month, respectively.
