Meijin Steel restarts its No. 2 blast furnace

Shanxi Province-based Chinese steel producer Meijin Iron and Steel Co., Ltd (Meijin Steel) has announced that it successfully recommissioned its No. 2 blast furnace on March 11.
 
In October 2010, Chinese steelmaker Taiyuan Steel Group signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Meijin Steel. Under the agreement, Taiyuan Steel has organized a management team and carried out overhauls on the production lines at Meijin Steel. The two companies plan to invest RMB 20 billion ($3 billion) in steelmaking programs at Meijin Steel. The designed production capacity of Meijin Steel for 2011 is 0.75-1 million mt of crude steel.
