According to a report from Reuters, South Korea plans to object to US restrictions on steel imports at World Trade Organization committee meetings next week. Korea is already subject to several antidumping duties on steel imports to the US, and Donald Trump’s executive order signed Thursday to investigate whether steel imports threaten national security has raised concerns with overseas steel producers.

An official from a Korean steelmaker told Reuters that the government should consider all measures in response to “deepening US trade protectionism” including filing a complaint with the WTO.

“We are open to all possible options including filing a complaint with WTO but nothing has been decided,” a senior official at South Korea’s trade ministry told Reuters. “We will decide after listening to opinions of the Korean steel industry.
