JSW Steel’s crude steel output up seven percent in Q3 FY 2017-18

JSW Steel, one of the largest Indian steelmakers, produced 4.11 million mt of crude steel in the third quarter (ended December 31) of the 2017-18 financial year, showing an increase of seven percent year on year. In the first nine months of the year, JSW Steel’s crude steel output increased by two percent to 11.96 million mt, compared to the same period of the previous financial year.

According to the company's statement, in the December quarter JSW Steel produced 2.82 million mt of flat rolled products, falling by one percent, while its long rolled product output totaled 880,000 mt, up 18 percent, both on year-on-year basis. Meanwhile, in the first nine months of the 2017-18 financial year, JSW Steel’s flat rolled products output totaled 8.46 million mt, remaining almost stable, while its long rolled product output rose by four percent to 2.48 million mt, both compared to the same period of the previous financial year.
