In February this year, Japan’s hot rolled plate and sheet shipments were down by 0.2 percent compared to the previous month and up by 8.5 percent from 591,521 mt recorded in the same month of 2025, amounting to 641,568 metric tons, according to the Japan Iron and Steel Federation (JISF) data. In the given month, 76.5 percent of shipments were made to the domestic market, while the remaining 23.5 percent were made to the export markets. In the given month, Japan’s hot rolled plate and sheet production amounted to 634,528 mt, up by 0.8 percent month on month and up by 0.9 percent year on year.
Meanwhile, in February Japan’s hot rolled strip shipments amounted to 1.13 million mt, moving down by 0.7 percent from the previous month and by 7.1 percent year on year. 27.7 percent of shipments were made to the domestic market, while the remaining 72.3 percent were made to the export markets. In the given month, Japan’s hot rolled strip production amounted to 1.08 million mt, down by 14.5 percent month on month and up by 1.5 percent year on year.
