Japan’s steel output to exceed 112 million tons

Japan's steel production is expected to exceed 112 million tons this year due to the strong shipments of high quality steel for automobiles and ships. According to the preliminary figures reported by the Japan Iron and Steel Federation, Japan's steel production reached 103.38 million tons as of November, up 0.2 percent year on year. Annual steel production reached an all-time high of 119.32 million tons in 1973. The second-highest steel output was recorded in 1974.
