Japanese auto output up 15.4 percent in January-April

According to the data provided by the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association (JAMA), in April this year Japanese automobile production (including passenger cars, trucks and buses) totaled 711,508 units, rising by 21.7 percent compared to the same month of 2022. Meanwhile, in the January-April period, Japanese automobile production grew by 15.4 percent year on year to 2,936,974 units.

Domestic automobile sales in April in Japan stood at 349,592 vehicles, rising by 16.7 percent as compared with the same month of 2022. Meanwhile, in the first four months, domestic automobile sales in Japan moved up by 15.6 percent year on year to 1,731,150 units. 

In the meantime, the country’s automobile exports in April amounted to 363,639 units, up by 15.7 percent year on year. In the January-April period Japanese automobile exports grew by 8.2 percent year on year to 1,317,824 units.
