Japanese auto output up 14.5 percent in January

In January this year, Japanese automobile production (including passenger cars, trucks and buses) totaled 860,803 units, increasing by 109,221 units or 14.5 percent compared to the same month of 2013, constituting the fifth consecutive increase on year-on-year basis, according to the data issued by the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association (JAMA).
 
Domestic automobile sales in January this year in Japan stood at 496,105 vehicles, up 29.4 percent as compared with the same month of 2013.
 
In the meantime, the country's automobile exports in January amounted to 326,696 units, down by 16,996 units or 4.9 percent year on year.
