Japan's domestic steel product orders up 2.4% in January-September

In September of the current year, steel product orders, including specialty steels, booked by domestic sectors in Japan amounted to 4.83 million metric tons, up one percent compared to September 2013 and up 2.47 percent compared to August, according to the data released by the Japan Iron and Steel Association (JISF). Meanwhile, in the January-September period of this year, domestic steel product orders in Japan increased by 2.44 percent year on year to 43.28 million metric tons.

In September of the current year, steel product orders in Japan booked by the domestic construction sector increased by 4.84 percent to 1.11 million mt, while steel product orders booked by the Japanese automotive sector came to 1.11 million metric tons, up 1.97 percent, both including special steel and on year-on-year basis. Japan's shipbuilding industry booked 320,673 metric tons of steel products in September this year, up 3.69 percent compared to September 2013.
