Japanese auto output up 13.5 percent in January-March

According to the data provided by the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association (JAMA), in March this year Japanese automobile production (including passenger cars, trucks and buses) totaled 866,260 units, rising by 20.4 percent compared to the same month of 2022. Meanwhile, in the January-March period, Japanese automobile production grew by 13.5 percent year on year to 2,225,466 units.

Domestic automobile sales in March in Japan stood at 572,494 vehicles, rising by 11.6 percent as compared with the same month of 2022. Meanwhile, in the first three months, domestic automobile sales in Japan moved up by 15.4 percent year on year to 1,381,558 units.

In the meantime, the country’s automobile exports in March amounted to 384,804 units, up by 19.7 percent year on year. In the January-March period Japanese automobile exports grew by 5.6 percent year on year to 954,185 units.
