Italy’s crude steel production increases by 27 percent in July

Crude steel production in Italy increased by 27 percent year on year in July this year to 2.211 million mt, according to the latest provisional data released by Federacciai, the Italian steel producers' association.

The volume is slightly above the 2.179 million mt that were produced in June this year, and is also up 12 percent compared to July 2019.

In the January-July period this year, Italy's crude steel output surpassed 14.9 million mt, increasing by 26.1 percent compared to the same period last year, and rising by three percent compared to the same period of 2019.

Looking at the flat and long product segments, in July this year Italy’s long products output amounted to 1.26 million mt, up 16.8 percent year on year, while output of flat steel in the same month totalled 960,000 mt, increasing by 24.8 percent year on year.
