According to Italy's national statistics office Istat, in October this year the turnover of Italian industry was down 0.2 percent month on month (seasonally-adjusted figure) and decreased by 4.7 percent year on year (calendar-adjusted figure).
In October, on month-on-month basis, the seasonally-adjusted turnover index in Italy increased 0.5 percent for for instrumental goods and 0.6 for consumer goods, while it fell 1.6 percent for energy and 0.6 percent for intermediate goods.
In metal industry and metal products manufacturing (excluding equipment and machineries), the year-on-year variation continued to show negative variations both for the seasonally-adjusted revenue index (-7.2 percent) and the new orders raw index (-4.9 percent).
With regard to total orders for Italian industry, in October this year there was no month-on-month variation and a year-on-year downtick of 0.1 percent.
In the August-October quarter, the average Italian industry turnover index value was down 0.5 percent, while the average Italian industry orders index decreased by 1.1 percent, both compared to the previous quarter.
