Italian long steel output down 9.5 percent in January-November

The Italian iron and steel federation Federacciai has announced Italy’s preliminary finished steel production figures for the month of November last year.
 
Accordingly, in November Italian long steel output decreased on year-on-year basis for the 13th month in a row, falling to 1.065 million metric tons, down 5.3 percent year on year. On the other hand, Italy’s flat steel production in November decreased by 9.3 percent year on year to 989,000 metric tons. Apart from August, November was the only other month in 2012 in which the domestic flat steel output figure dropped under one million mt.
 
In the first 11 months of 2012, Italian long steel output amounted to 11.004 million mt, down 9.5 percent year on year, down three percent compared to the same period in 2010, and recording a modest increase of 4.7 percent compared to January-November 2009. In addition, Italian flat steel production in January-November last year increased by 1.2 percent year on year to 13.627 million metric tons.
