Italian crude steel production up 3.7 percent in January-March

In March this year, Italian producers' crude steel output increased by one percent year on year to 2.28 million metric tons, as announced by the Italian steel association Federacciai.

March's output volume is also higher compared to the 2.04 million metric tons recorded in March 2016 and the 2.1 million mt recorded in March 2015, while it is lower compared to the 2.32 million mt recorded in the same month of 2014.

In the January-March period, Italian crude steel output was 6.4 million mt, i.e., 3.7 percent higher compared to the same period of 2017.

Meanwhile, in the January-February period this year Italy's long steel output amounted to 2.08 million metric tons, increasing by 10.6 percent year on year. In the same month, Italian flat steel output totaled 1.83 million metric tons, decreasing by 3.2 percent year on year.
