Italian crude steel production down 2.8 percent in February

After decreasing by 3.6 percent year on year in January this year, Italian producers' crude steel output declined by 2.8 percent year on year in February to 2.046 million mt, as per the latest report issued by the Italian steel association Federacciai.

However, February's output volume is higher compared to the 2.002 million mt recorded in February 2017, 1.949 million mt in February 2016, and the 1.970 million mt registered in February 2015.

Meanwhile, in January this year, Italy's long steel output amounted to 895,000 metric tons, decreasing by 5.1 percent year on year. In the same month, Italian flat steel output totaled 849,000 metric tons, decreasing by 9.3 percent year on year.
