Italian crude steel output increases by 3.7 percent in April

In April this year, Italian producers' crude steel output increased by 3.7 percent year on year to 2.061 million metric tons, as announced by the Italian steel association Federacciai.

April's output volume is lower compared to the 2.101 million metric tons recorded in April 2016, but is higher compared to the 1.826 million mt recorded in April 2015 and the 2.027 million mt recorded in the same month of 2014.

In the January-April period this year, Italian crude steel output was 8.486 million mt, i.e., 3.9 percent higher compared to the same period of 2017.

Meanwhile, in the January-March period this year Italy's long steel output amounted to 3.285 million metric tons, increasing by 6.7 percent year on year. In the same period, Italian flat steel output totaled 2.844 million metric tons, decreasing by 2.4 percent year on year.
