Italian crude steel output increases by 2.9 percent in 2017

As expected, Italian crude steel output exceeded 24 million mt in 2017. According to the Italian steel producers association Federacciai, Italian crude steel production last year amounted to 24.041 million metric tons, rising by 2.9 percent compared to 2016.

In comparison, Italian crude steel output totaled 23.372 million mt in 2016, 22.018  million mt in 2015, 23.715 million mt in 2014, 24.091 million mt in 2013 and 27.251 million mt in 2012.

In December last year, crude steel production in Italy amounted to 1.783 million metric tons, up 0.3 percent year on year. Italian crude steel output had also increased on year-on-year basis in the months of June, July, August, September, October and November in 2017.

Meanwhile, in the January-November period of 2017, Italy's long steel output amounted to 11.11 million metric tons, increasing by 2.4 percent, while Italian flat steel output totaled 10.327 million metric tons, decreasing by 2.6 percent, both year on year.
