After increasing slightly on year-on-year basis in May, Italian producers' crude steel output decreased by 2.5 percent year on year in June this year to 2.086 million mt, as per the latest report issued by the Italian steel association Federacciai.
In the first half of 2019, Italian crude steel production amounted to 12.561 million mt, down 2.0 percent year on year. However, this output was slightly higher compared to the 12.369 million mt recorded in the same period of 2017 and also exceeded the 12.153 million mt recorded in the January-June period of 2016.
Finally, in the five months of 2019, Italy's long steel output amounted to 5.40 million mt, decreasing by 0.9 percent year on year. In the same period, Italian flat steel output totaled 4.89 million metric tons, increasing by 1.8 percent year on year.
