Indian government-run steel producer Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) achieved a net profit of INR 3,740 million ($40.79 million) in the third quarter (October-December) of the fiscal year 2025-26, a rise of 260 percent year on year, according to a company statement on Monday, February 2. The company reported total revenues of INR 273,710 million ($2.98 billion) a rise of 12 percent year on year.

SAIL achieved crude steel production of 14.08 million mt during the first nine months (April-December) of the fiscal year 2025-26, a rise of two percent, and steel sales growth of 16.3 percent during the period, enabled by expanded outreach to retail customers, inventory drawdown and improved dispatches to the market, the statement said.

“Despite volatility on the input cost front and the competitive pricing environment, we sustained operating profitability, supported by higher volumes, product mix optimisation, and continued cost discipline,” it said.
