India’s LMEL sees 45% rise in DRI output in Q1 FY 2023-24, iron ore output up 400 %

India’s Lloyds Metal and Energy Limited (LMEL) has achieved direct reduction iron (DRI) production of 66,273 mt in the first quarter (April-June) of fiscal year 2023-24, up 45 percent year on year, and iron ore output of 3.8 million mt during the quarter, a growth of 400 percent, a company statement said on Wednesday, July 5.

The company’s installed DRI capacity is 270,000 mt, while it has a 30 MW waste heat recovery-based power plant.

The company said that it had achieved its highest-ever monthly production of iron ore at 1.2 million mt in April.
